Job Description Job Title: Histotechnician / Histotechnologist (Direct Hire) Location: White Plains, NY Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire Shift: Day Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Compensation: Salary Range: $63k – $120k (commensurate with experience and credentials) Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance and retirement plan Position Summary The Histotechnician / Histotechnologist performs a full range of histological technical procedures using manual and automated techniques to produce high-quality pathology slides for review by Pathologists. This role supports accurate diagnosis through strict adherence to quality standards, regulatory requirements, and laboratory best practices. Flu vaccination is required. No exemptions permitted. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Histotechnologist Responsibilities Adheres to organizational performance standards, policies, and professional behaviors Performs embedding and sectioning of tissue blocks according to established protocols Evaluates routine H&E stains daily, identifies inconsistencies, and corrects issues prior to slide release Performs and evaluates Special Stains and Immunohistochemistry (IHC), ensuring proper control validation and documentation Conducts routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation Verifies embedded paraffin blocks against block logs and performs QC documentation Performs frozen sections as needed Downloads and prints cassettes for surgical specimens Assists with surgical tissue specimen submission, verifying patient data and specimen integrity Enters block and cassette data into the LIS (Meditech) Records daily quality control data, including temperatures, cleaning logs, and troubleshooting documentation Maintains inventory of reagents and supplies; initiates ordering as needed Participates in internal and external proficiency testing (including CAP) Supports evaluation of new products, procedures, and quality control initiatives Utilizes LIS applications for Histology/Cytology functions Performs additional related duties as assigned Histotechnician Responsibilities Adheres to organizational performance standards, policies, and professional behaviors Performs embedding and sectioning of tissue blocks per protocol Evaluates routine H&E stains for quality and accuracy Performs Special Stains and Immunohistochemistry with appropriate control checks and documentation Performs all other related duties as assigned Education & Experience Requirements Histotechnologist NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or NYS PA License required Degree in Medical Technology or related science preferred Minimum one year of relevant hospital-based histology experience preferred ASCP certification preferred Histotechnician NYS Clinical Laboratory Technician License or NYS PA License required Degree in Medical Technology or related science preferred Minimum one year of relevant hospital-based histology experience preferred ASCP certification preferred Why Join This Opportunity Stable, full-time direct hire role Competitive salary with comprehensive benefits Day shift schedule with no weekends Modern laboratory environment with strong quality and compliance standards If you are a licensed Histotechnician or Histotechnologist seeking a stable day-shift role with excellent compensation and benefits, we encourage you to apply today.
