LAC faces unprecedented challenges. We seek a dynamic and
experienced professional to lead our technical dialogue and
portfolio development in agriculture and rural development, either
based in a country Office or at headquarters.The sector aims to
contribute to food security, generate income, and reduce
environmental harms through strengthening institutions, supporting
public goods, expanding financial services, improving market
access, fostering climate resilience and sustainability, reducing
gender and ethnic gaps, and supporting evidence-based
decision-making.The Agriculture and Rural Development Division
(PTI/ARD) leads the design and execution of operations and policy
dialogue in sustainable, resilient, and inclusive agri-food
systems, natural resource management, and sustainable forest and
fisheries management.What you'll do
- Portfolio management and development: Supervise operations and
technical cooperation implementation, manage risks, promote
results, ensure compliance, lead supervision planning, and
contribute to country-specific work programs.
- Lead and participate in monitoring, evaluation, and knowledge
product development on operations' effectiveness and lessons
learned.
- Lead the origination, design, and preparation of investment
projects and technical cooperation, collaborating with the Country
Office and engaging with government authorities and multisectoral
teams.
- Technical Sector Dialogue and synergies: Lead policy dialogue,
identify support opportunities, and promote collaboration with
donors and stakeholders, including public-private initiatives.
- Economic and/or Sector Work & Development: Contribute to sector
and country strategies, conduct analytic work to inform dialogues
and investments.
- Knowledge Management and Dissemination: Share sector knowledge
and best practices, build networks for knowledge sharing.
- Team management: Supervise technical and operational
consultants supporting portfolio management and policy
dialogue.Coordinate activities with various Bank divisions and
specialists, including climate change, biodiversity, disaster risk
management, and others. Work closely with IDB-Lab and
IDB-Invest.What you'll needEducation: Master's degree in agronomy,
agriculture, sustainable rural development, economics, natural
resources management, or related fields.Experience: Minimum five
years in managing or supervising agricultural or rural development
investment projects, preferably in LAC. Experience with
multilateral/multi-donor funding, multi-sector projects, strategic
alliances, and securing concessional funding is valued.Language:
Proficiency in English and an additional official Bank language
(Spanish, Portuguese, or French).Requirements--- Citizenship of one
of the 48 member countries. Assistance with relocation and visas
may be provided.--- No family members (up to fourth degree of
consanguinity or second degree of affinity) working at IDB, IDB
Invest, or IDB Lab.Contract Type and Duration--- Staff:
International contract, initially 36 months, renewable.What we
