Arconic Lancaster has been a leader in the aluminum manufacturing industry and a strong community partner for over 75 years. At our 1.3 million square-foot plant, we produce a variety of products--from painted aluminum sheet to blanked aluminum products. What we produce here is found in a wide assortment of end products, such as truck cabs, cookware, and construction materials. We also produce brazing sheet used by auto manufacturers to make evaporator and condenser components. Over 400 customers use our product for a variety of consumer goods.

The Controls Engineer will maintain and develop process control operating systems from a hardware and software perspective. Process control operating systems control the operation of our production machinery and are integral to the production, quality, and safety or our production systems.

Key Responsibilities of the Controls Engineer:

  • Design new process control systems as needed. This can be driven by new product development for the plant as well as modifications to existing processes
  • Perform system upgrades to keep current with hardware and software that is still supported by the manufacturer or developer
  • Maintain the upkeep of process control computers, software licensing agreements, and backups of software files to minimize the downtime of manufacturing equipment
  • Supply formatted data to the technical and process groups as requested.
  • Solve quality problems associated with process control systems and develop software to diagnose quality problems
  • Provide support and on-call functions to assist in troubleshooting as required to minimize production operation downtime

About Lancaster, PA: A great central location in South Central Pennsylvania, Lancaster is situated for easy access to major cities such as Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Washington DC, and New York City. Lancaster offers a notable entertainment community with rich historic sites, museums, many different shopping centers, entertainment venues, and restaurants.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate degree from an accredited institution
  • 1-3 years of experience with electrical and control systems including but not limited to AC/DC motors and systems, PLCs, and instrumentation
  • 1-3 years of experience in C, C , or C# programming language
  • 1-3 years of experience in SQL

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • Basic mechanical and machinery knowledge and understanding
  • 3 years of experience in electrical and control systems

1-2 years of experience in Aluminum or Metals Manufacturing
