Job Description:

This individual is capable, under direct supervision of the Program Director, of performing work in the therapeutic care, treatment and rehabilitation of persons within the program. This position does not require, and is restricted from performing group counselling, individual counselling, treatment planning, case management, etc., but does act as a liaison between the clinical staff and the clients. This individual is responsible for providing a positive role model for clients to emulate.Work is performed in accordance with established regulations, policies and procedures, but employees are expected to exercise significant initiative and independent judgement in discharging duties. Work is reviewed by the Program/Clinical Supervisor or Program Director through an evaluation of the timely and accurate completion of assignments.* This job requires a clean driving record for 3 years, as this position will be transporting clients as needed.Treat all clients and staff with dignity and respect.Transport and act as escort for clients who have medical appointments, or other business outside the facility such as NA/AA meetings. Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.Screen client persons and belongings upon entry to the facility.Monitor client movement in and out of the facility and account for their whereabouts. Maintain and monitor client sign-out book.Coordinate chores, smoke breaks and any other in-house activities.Facilitate approved client request slips including phone calls, mail, and visitation.Conduct and document room searches and perform random searches of client’s persons as necessary.Maintain accurate daily census, know where clients are on the floor.Report infractions, incidents to appropriate staff.Assist with coordinating special activities and events.Deny access to unauthorized persons.Supervise, where appropriate, clients taking their medications.Conduct client orientation sessions. Screen and process new admissions.Take head counts during hourly runs. Document hourly runs and client movement in communication log.Perform regular room checks to make sure clients are in their rooms.Follow protocol for reporting unauthorized absences.Monitor urinalysis/ drug screening as instructed by supervisor on duty.Monitor meals and medication line.Tour the facility at regular intervals to check building security and ensure there are no fire or safety hazards in accordance with program and regulatory policies. Conduct safety checks including safety and security of the facility, checking fire extinguishers, first aid kits and Narcan availability.Check and respond to emails on a daily basis.Ensure vehicles are kept clean and complete weekly vehicle inspections.Complete electronic incident reports, as needed.Ability to interact effectively with clients and aid them in adjusting to their specific problems.Basic knowledge of substance use disorders and treatment programs.Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.Ability to establish and maintain working relations with staff and other agencies, and the public.Ability to successfully work with others from various cultures and backgrounds.Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.Knowledge of particular skill area such as recreation, maintenance, cleaning, safety and security.Ability to work various shifts.Basic computer skills, including ability to use Microsoft Outlook for email and Word and Excel.
