Summary: The primary responsibility of an Account Manager is to provide prompt, accurate, courteous and professional services to insureds, prospects and other members of the general public, sales representatives, fellow employees and insurance companies. To work directly with clients and maintain a book of business as directed by management. This position should exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Account Manager are to, with or without reasonable accommodations, meet the following ‘Essential Job Functions’ as listed below:Handle all aspects of the renewal process, which are outlined in the department policies and procedures, for the assigned book of business.Promptly handle all service requests including certificates of insurance, endorsements, audits, etc. according to department policies and procedures.Maintain and build client relationships by attending client visits as needed. Examples of client visits include, but are not limited to, renewal meetings, risk control visits, client training, and new business proposals.Assist with the marketing and placement of new business.Maintain a valid P&C license. Maintain regular attendance and demonstrate punctuality for all meetings, client events, and conferences.The following is a summary of the additional duties and responsibilities for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.Uphold a working knowledge of the Murray services and differentiation.Demonstrate knowledge on all systems including, but not limited to, the agency management system, Image Right/Worksmart, carrier portals, CSR24, Basic knowledge of Excel Spreadsheets, and TransactNow to efficiently service assigned book of business.Review and check all new and renewing policies for appropriate coverages and payment details. Update systems and coverage forms during review as well as assist in the preparation of binder preparations. Demonstrate the ability to analyze coverage forms and how they impact a client in order to recommend alternative solutions.Provide coverage recommendations for assigned client base.Meet with the Producer on any new accounts written. Obtain a detailed written explanation noting the nature of the account, coverages, lines written, payment plan, etc.Document as soon as possible to the insured, Producer/Account Executive, and if necessary the company in writing, all verbal requests which reduce, enhance or delete coverages or are deviations from the normal or current coverage.Assist with the completion of all necessary account applications, forms, marketing, account ordering and/or reports in accordance with agency standards and guidelines in a timely fashion.Review accounts for round out opportunities.Analyze contracts and specifications making appropriate recommendations to the producer and client as needed. Demonstrate the ability to handle complex contracts.Remain familiar with all aspects of insurance companies’ guidelines; know where to access electronically from insurance companies and underwriter’s websites; and other Internet portals.Assist the Sales Team with maintaining good carrier relationships by attending carrier meetings as requested as well as keeping a positive relation with all insurance contacts.Scan documents into the agency management system and file appropriately.Preserve an above average understanding of insurance coverages, the insurance industry and the businesses with whom they interact with by attending educational seminars, conferences, review professional publications, establish personal networks and participate in professional societies.Pursue continued professional development relevant to the position. Promote a collaborative team environment that encourages productivity and knowledge advancement leading to exceptional customer service delivered to clients.Assist Department Manager in leading the team by providing guidance and instruction to other associates as needed.Foster professional relationships with clients and viable prospects that are beneficial to both Murray and the clients. Assist in the training and development of new hires and interns as requested by management. Participates in all required training and educational functions as requested by management.All other projects as assigned by a member of management.Minimum Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYThis position as no direct supervisory responsibilities.SUPERVISION REQUIREDMost work is done independently, without close supervision.PROBLEM SOLVING/DECISION MAKINGWork requires self-determination with some pre-set procedures, problems of above average in complexityEDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGERequires a high school equivalency, plus maintenance of a P&C license.EXPERIENCERequires three to five years’ experience in a similar role.COMMUNICATIONRequires frequent verbal communication with other departments and/or routine communication with others, but primary responsibility rests with the supervisor. Written communication, typically emails, reports, memos, and forms required to average to above average extent.CONFIDENTIALITYHas occasional responsibility to access confidential information, such as legal documents, business or financial data, damage exposure to company is minor.MENTAL DEMANDSJob demands are frequently caused by the need for quick decisions on a diversity of problems.CREATIVITY AND FORESIGHTAn average level of alertness and creativity is required in this job to maximize customer service and maintain quality goals.INFORMATION SYSTEMSRequires advanced proficiency all of the above, plus basic skill level in graphics and/or database software.CONTACT WITH OTHERSJob requires frequent contacts with other departments and routine contacts with customers and/or vendors. Requires tact and courtesy in these contacts, but primary responsibility rests with the supervisor.PHYSICAL DEMANDSJob requires sustained physical effort; continuity of effort working with office equipment or the computer. May require broader movements, in a slow cycle.SALESSome sales, such as round outs and referrals through every day servicing, is expected within this position.
