Description Job Family: Risk Monitors activities to minimize the company's exposure to risk. Activities may include quantitative analysis, risk identification and remediation. Represents or supports the reputation of the company to minimize compliance and regulatory risk by resolving issues and ensuring adherence to company and legal standards. Responsible for ensuring that all of the company's activities adhere to the necessary rules and regulations, and that the company complies with legal/regulatory statutes and jurisdictions. Job Function: Risk Management Ensures adherence to the policies and procedures established by the company. Manages policy, standard definition and monitoring of policy, standard implementation, ensuring harmonization and consistency of risk policies. Monitors and manages risk/exposure and compliance with the company's policies. Identifies, manages and reports on the company's risk areas. Evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of data, document retention, and monitors systems. Summary of Responsibilities: The 2nd Line Risk Management Business Control Sr. Associate provides strategic business leadership around key activities within the 2nd line related to identifying, assessing, mitigating and managing risk and ensures the existence of appropriate product and platform supervisory controls. The Sr. Associate works to improve the control environment within the 2nd line through oversight and evaluation of the various components of the business and operating functions across the collective and individual risk groups. S/he evaluates the industry, market and regulatory environment to anticipate changes and help ensure appropriate alignment with potential business scenarios. Essential Functions: Perform ongoing or periodic monitoring of operational risks within the second line of defense risk functions leveraging targeted metrics and other information (e.g. â?? KRI and RAS metrics, losses, operational risk events, and new, emerging, and existing issues) Execute the annual risk and control self-assessment cycle including annual control testing for second line risk. Support second line risk functions in the identification, documentation, management, and resolution of risk related issues. Perform Independent review and oversight of procedures, training content, deployment, program integration and policy adherence. Oversight of adherence of Operational Risk Framework, Methodology and data governance Help facilitate and oversee execution of policy assurance exercises across second line risk functions at SC Contributes to key stakeholder reporting, escalation and communication to Risk Governance Forums Help drive culture of risk awareness Other Functions: Other duties as assigned. Requirements: Education - Bachelor's Degree: Business, Finance, Management, or equivalent field. or equivalent work experience Experience - 5-7 years Risk Management Financial Services industry. Skills & Abilities - Strong operational risk management principles, methodologies and tools, governance principles and activity preferably in a financial services technology environment. Knowledge of workflow/processes and risks/controls, including: origination, underwriting, servicing, and collections/workout. Ability to independently operate in a complex, matrixed environment; adept at delivering and maintaining productive working relationships across business, functions, geographies and lines of defense Advanced operational risk, process, and control validation and/or assessment skills. Ability to direct, train and guide peers, subordinates and management. Ability to handle conflict resolution with other groups to ensure appropriate accounting guidance is followed. Ability to adjust to new developments/changing circumstances. Ability to convey a sense of urgency and drive issues/projects to closure. Ability to effectively interact with the market, executive management and vendors. Ability to adapt and adjust to multiple demands and competing priorities. Occasional moving and lifting of equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown.
