Reporting to the Senior Manager, Customer Solutions, the Customer Solutions Architect will conceive, design, develop, test, and integrate new elements for software technology that powers the company's ProjectWorks Design and Pre-Construction Service. This work will be in support of aggressive growth across all business units including Mineral Fiber, WAVE, and Architectural Specialties. With a focus on user experience and user efficiency, the incumbent will be responsible for digitally developing new and existing product lines, features, tools, and functionality into the ProjectWorks software platform.

Utilizing a creative design and agile workflow approach, this individual will guide all planning, scope, and requirements definition, functional design, prototyping, development/build, and test phases of software development, while also maintaining code quality at an advanced level. This will include integrating with manufacturing and other business software that ProjectWorks and the company currently utilize.

This position requires an elevated level of collaboration with both internal and external development teams, while also fostering critical relationships with other key members of the ProjectWorks Team, the company's other technical teams, and customers. ProjectWorks continues to push the boundaries of how digital technology and software can be used to streamline the construction process from design to installation, while also providing a best-in-class customer experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Works as part of the ProjectWorks Development and Build Team to craft and execute development and build plans that drive the value proposition and differentiation that ProjectWorks provides across all types of commercial construction projects.
  • Creates alignment between the ProjectWorks Team and the Software Development Team to establish a development and build a plan for new and existing product line integrations, feature and tool enhancements, technical solution detail creation, testing, and strategic planning of critical workflows and systems.
  • Manages the technical development and builds project flow across multiple teams and project types.
    • Provides technical expertise with object-oriented development, Java and .net preferred, and concurrent systems development (multithreaded, distributed, etc.)
    • Works in an agile/dynamic environment and gets involved in all technical activities with the team such as estimating, sprint planning, software development life cycle activities, code reviews, end-user deployment, and documentation creation.
    • Ensures software deliverables align with the technical architecture, development standards, and quality practices.
    • Works with the ProjectWorks Team to develop, maintain and update yearly development and build plans/goals.
    • Supports future vision technical planning, execution of new product integrations, and development of new software platforms in the ProjectWorks service.
    • Develops Best Practice Standard Work to create requirements and implementation plans for working, end-to-end software solutions.
    • Develops Best Practice Standard Work to ensure there is proper technical analysis from an installation perspective for ceiling solutions across all business units.

      Qualifications

      • Understanding of AutoCAD and equivalent 2D/3D architectural/design programs.
      • Ability to use the following technologies:
        • Object-oriented development
        • Core Java
        • SQL Database
        • GIT, Maven
        • Knowledge of architectural/interior solutions.
        • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Teams, and Zoom.

          Education and/or Experience

          • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in computer science, engineering or a related field required.
          • 10+ years of professional IT experience,
          • 7+ years as a software developer or similar role.
          • Experience with code quality testing and code reviews using modern tools/best practices, e.g., automated testing.
          • Experience with BIM, and Revit software.
          • Experience with the following technologies: Unity, Amazon Web Services (AWS), .NET, and Junit.
          • Experience with the commercial construction industry.

            Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

            • Certification in either a process discipline (ITIL, PMI, Six Sigma) or technical discipline.
