We are seeking an Optometrist for a locum tenens assignment in Virginia, starting Dec 1, 2025. This role spans 24 days, offering a flexible schedule of 8 days per month with 8:30 am to 2 pm shifts. The ideal candidate has experience in nursing home and geriatric care and is comfortable providing routine eye care across multiple facilities. Job Details - Location: Virginia - Start Date: Dec 1, 2025 - LOA: 24 days - Provider Type Needed: Optometrist - Schedule: 8 days per month; flexible arrangement (2 days per week or consecutive days), 8:30 am–2 pm Responsibilities and Duties - Conduct routine eye exams and charting for patients in nursing home settings - Diagnose and treat ocular diseases - Prescribe, fit, and adjust eyeglasses as needed - Advise patients, families, and facilities on appropriate follow-up care - Refer patients for specialized care when necessary - Prescribe antibiotics as required (no other prescribing required) - Travel within a 1.5-hour radius to multiple care centers, with daily driving up to one hour between locations Additional Information - Virginia optometry license required - Must be registered with or eligible for Medicare and Medicaid - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required - Preference for candidates with nursing home and geriatric care experience - Flexible schedule; can start as soon as credentialed Benefits - Strong compensation - Travel-related expenses covered - A-rated medical malpractice insurance provided - Dedicated recruiter for future travel opportunities What are Locum Tenens Jobs?
