Overview The Chief of the Burn Surgery Division and Medical
Director at our organization’s hospital is responsible for leading
the burn unit, which includes overseeing clinical care, program
management, faculty development, and educational initiatives. This
position demands a high level of expertise in burn surgery and
critical care, with duties encompassing the management of both
inpatient and outpatient services, quality improvement efforts, and
the promotion of a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

practice, research, and education. Position: Chief of Burn Surgery
Division and Medical Director, Burn Unit Location: Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania Our organization is seeking applications and
nominations for the role of Chief of Burn Surgery Division and
Medical Director, Burn Unit. This is a remarkable opportunity for a
distinguished academic surgeon to lead a well-respected burn
program at one of the nation’s leading urban academic medical
centers. The Chief of Burn Surgery Division and Medical Director
will be tasked with upholding and enhancing excellence in all
facets of burn care, which includes acute inpatient management,
surgical procedures, critical care, and outpatient services.
Responsibilities will also involve overseeing program operations,
quality and safety initiatives, faculty development, and academic
productivity. The new leader will play a crucial role in educating
surgical residents, fellows, and medical students, while fostering
a collaborative and innovative environment that encourages
continuous improvement. The Chief will provide overall leadership,
strategic direction, and clinical oversight for the Burn Center,
which is verified by the American Burn Association (ABA). This Burn
Center is the only ABA-verified facility in the region located
within a Level 1 Trauma Center and affiliated with an academic
institution, ensuring the highest standards of comprehensive burn
care, research, and education. About the Burn Center The Burn
Center admits around 300 acute burn cases each year and serves over
1,600 outpatients in the burn clinic. The unit features a 10-bed
dedicated ICU with an adjoining procedure room, staffed by
specialized nurses, therapists, nutritionists, and psychologists.
The center offers a complete range of burn care services, from
acute resuscitation and surgical management to outpatient
rehabilitation and survivor support. Patients at our facility
receive top-quality care in a compassionate, patient-centered
setting, delivered by a dedicated team. Minimum Qualifications:
M.D. or D.O. degree Board certification in General or Plastic
Surgery, along with fellowship training and/or substantial clinical
experience in Burn Surgery and Surgical Critical Care Preference
for candidates with a Surgical Critical Care fellowship Eligibility
for medical licensure in Pennsylvania Proven leadership skills and
administrative experience in an academic or large tertiary care
environment Commitment to education, clinical excellence, and
scholarly activities Qualifications to support a faculty
