holidaysCovering York, Lancaster and Lebanon CountiesGeneral
SummaryProvides and coordinates treatment and services to
psychiatric patients. Functions as a member of the health care team
at an intermediate nursing level to assist in the planning and
implementation of patient care based upon sound nursing judgment,
clinical preparation, knowledge, skills and experience. Nursing
care is provided in accordance with the provisions of the
Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. In addition, serves as a
nursing resource for clinical staff and may serve as the key
clinical contact in the absence of the Nursing Supervisor or
Clinical Team Lead by providing support for clinical staff
scheduling and competency oversight of clinicians.Interviews
patients and family members to obtain information about home
environment, family relationships, health history, and patient's
personality traits. Administers medications as
prescribed.Coordinates care of assigned patients.Conducts
individual or group therapy sessions. Assesses patients' progress
and modifies or extends treatment program accordingly.Documents
current, accurate observations of care to the patient in
appropriate records.Provides health care instruction/education to
patient and family members.Provides medication checks.Provides
support to nurse triage phone calls when appropriate.Variation of
duties may result based on the assigned customer care unit(s). This
may include differences in the specific clinical skills required of
the RN. Unit based skill lists outline expectations beyond the
house wide RN requirements. SYS-NURS-L Nursing Education
Requirements Policy outlines current certification(s) required for
specific areas of nursing practice and is considered to be part of
the job description.Common Expectations:Demonstrates knowledge of
the principles of growth and development over the life span of the
assigned patient population. Assesses and interprets patient age
specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment.
Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age
group(s).Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff
by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the
impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to
reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well
as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize
processes and 'error proof' systems that will lead to increased
safety; and participating in safety education programs and root
cause analyses as required.Maintains established policies and
procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental
and infection control standards.Enhances professional growth and
development through participation in educational programs, current
literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.Provides outstanding
service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal
responsibility through improvement and innovation.Maintains the
cleanliness of work areas as required.Assists in the implementation
of education and training experience for interns and other
designated students.Provides age appropriate assessment and
