Summary: Responsible for organizing, planning and directing the credit union's consumer loan functions. Coach, mentor, empower, evaluate and measure area staff. Directs the day-to-day operations and employees of consumer loan underwriting, processing. Originates corporate consumer lending policies and procedures, in conjunction with the CEO. Has responsibility for the prudent management of the consumer loan portfolio to maximize income, profitability and growth. Is responsible for the oversight and development of the indirect lending, first mortgage, and student loan programs. Is accountable for the development, application and review of the credit union's consumer loan underwriting criteria. Approves or denies loan applications that exceed the loan limits of other department personnel. Essential Functions: Enthusiastically leads by example and supports the united sales culture of LRRCU. Assumes oversight responsibility for consumer loan originations ensuring adequate controls to maintain regulatory compliance and efficiency of operations. Approves and rejects consumer credit applications, handles sensitive and difficult member service problems. Approves loans outside lending policy as authorized by the CEO. Assists CEO with the development and measurement of strategic business plan and loan projection goals. Monitors delinquency activity which includes but not limited to internal delinquency and reports on external sources of delinquency derived from relationships with mortgage companies and student loans. Sets performance goals and objectives that meet and/ or exceed service of LRRCU and the Consumer Loan Department. Develops and ensures that consumer loan and branch employees implement and administer policies and operating procedures for the consumer loan operation. In conjunction with the area Supervisors, interviews, hires, trains, schedules, assigns work to, counsels, and makes authoritative recommendations on promotions and when necessary, discipline and recommends discharge of subordinate staff members. Keeps informed of market conditions and competitive interest rates to recommend changes in the credit union's rate structure, revises departmental goals and objectives, in conjunction with the CEO, based on changes in market conditions and other factors. Works in tandem with the CEO and marketing to strategically plan product promotions and campaigns. Responsible for participation in projects related to consumer loan operations and otherwise as assigned. Cross-sell credit union products and services to members. Seize any and all opportunities to educate members about LRRCU, its products and services. Abide by LRRCU's policies, procedures and standards. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Physical Demands: This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bending or standing. Ability to operate general office equipment such as copiers, fax machines, scanners, phones, hole-punchers, and staplers. Keyboarding or PC data entry capabilities required. Sitting, standing, bending, and hand dexterity required. Ambulation; able to move from one area to another throughout one-floor office layout. Stairs provided for movement from one floor to another and to enter and exit building. Travel: Periodic travel to all branch locations may be required on an as needed basis. Minimum Required Education and Experience: High school graduate or equivalent; college degree preferred. Experience: 5+ years retail lending experience; management experience preferred.Knowledge of banking operations and lending functions. Preferred Education and Experience: A four year College Degree in Business Administration, Finance or related area and five years of experience Leading a Consumer Lending Deaprtment with a Bank or Credit Union.
