Directs and plans the procurement, planning, warehouse and production activities of Aavid Thermal varied product offering and customer expectations. - Materials Manager is the champion of AS9100 processes and primary department function standard procedures. Focus Operational metrics will be: On-time Delivery, Inventory Turns, Purchase Price Variance, Supplier Scorecard management, Lead-time Development, ERP AccuracyESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. --- - - - - - - Oversees development of monthly and quarterly Operation Plans for review and execution. Operation Plans should include both unit quantities and financial sales value estimations for evaluating performance. --- - - - - - - Oversees development of the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to establish manufacturing sequence and priorities to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders. - Method of MPS to evolve with ERP and real-time manufacturing data enhancement. --- - - - - - - Leads Operational discussions and actions in support of manufacturing build plan and customer satisfaction. --- - - - - - - Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure timely production capabilities from Backlog, ERP setup and available resources. - Primarily established during ERP implementation and setup but review for verification and accuracy of entered data is critical to department success. --- - - - - - - Interactive Operations participation in the review of production costs, product quality and yield variances, and conflict resolution during team progress meetings. --- - - - - - - Reviews production schedules and related information and confers with department supervisors and Outside Process Suppliers (OSP) to determine material requirements to identify overdue materials and to track material. --- - - - - - - Directs the preparation of short-term and long-range plans. --- - - - - - - Creates the structure and processes necessary to manage the organization's current activities and its projected growth. --- - - - - - - Develops and installs procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flow within the organization. --- - - - - - - Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood. --- - - - - - - Ensures availability of all required materials as per production plan and requirements. --- - - - - - - Manages Buyer/Planner activities associated with purchasing of materials to support production operations. --- - - - - - - Develops Material Plan with Buyer/Planner input to support the MPS. --- - - - - - - Manages inventory levels and Purchase Price Variance with reports and corrective actions to address negative metrics. --- - - - - - - Interacts with corporate peers to lower plant costs and seek saving consolidation across multiple opportunities. --- - - - - - - Manages warehouse operations, including inventory control and accuracy, record keeping, shipping/receiving, traffic management, order picking and fulfillment, and general material handling functions, through subordinate supervisors. --- - - - - - - Monitors and reports Supplier Scorecards. Seeks required corrective action or remediation methods for historically poor quality and/or delivery. --- - - - - - - Coordinates plant-to-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES - Manages Purchasing, Planning and Warehouses. - Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. - QUALIFICATIONS - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Management, Engineering or Production Control, or comparable experience in a manufacturing environment as a production planner and/or buyer using advanced ERP/MRP II systems. - Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a very dynamic and fast-paced environment. - ERP/MRP II skills with the planning and materials management functions such as SAP's Producing Planning (PP) and Materials Management (MM) modules. - Oracle experience is a plus. - Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to communicate clearly to all levels of business contacts from customers, executive staff and hourly production workers and supervisors. - Demonstrated success in managing inventory, production scheduling, production control and capacity planning required. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
