considered. A highly inclusive elementary school in Ellicott City,
MD, is seeking a committed Special Education Teacher to support
students in grades K-2. This contract position spans the current
school year, starting immediately and continuing until the end of
the year or until a permanent hire is made. This role involves
managing a caseload of approximately 18 students, primarily
providing resource support through a blend of pull-out and push-in
services. Many students require behavioral interventions, so
experience with Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) implementation is
strongly preferred. Candidates with a preference for supporting
students with low cognitive profiles in smaller caseloads should
indicate this when applying. Key responsibilities include:
Delivering differentiated instruction across all elementary
subjects within a highly inclusive classroom setting Collaborating
closely with paraeducators and other support staff, adapting to
fluctuating staffing levels Implementing behavioral support plans
and promoting positive student outcomes Providing personalized
interventions both in-class and through pull-out sessions as needed
Maintaining accurate student records and progress documentation
Qualifications and experience sought: Maryland Special Education
Certification (K5) is required or candidates actively pursuing
certification will be considered Prior experience working with
young students who have behavioral challenges and diverse learning
needs Strong collaboration skills and adaptability in working with
paraeducators and other professionals Ability to manage a mixed
caseload effectively within a structured school day The position
follows a standard seven-hour workday plus a 30-minute unpaid
lunch, with schedules varying slightly by school site. This
