Work Schedule: Full-time, 32 WTU June - May. Positions are available beginning June 1, 2025. Hours are typically Monday - Friday, with possibility of weekends. May include some early mornings, evenings, nights, and weekends.
General Description: The PLU School of Nursing is seeking full-time, non-tenure-track Simulation Educator, Clinical Instructor/Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing for our Tacoma and Lynnwood campuses. The primary teaching responsibilities will be in the prelicensure BSN, ABSN, and ELMSN (Entry Level Master of Science in Nursing) programs, with the possibility of limited teaching in the graduate program. This faculty position in the clinical teaching track involves teaching primarily in simulation with limited teaching in didactic courses, clinical courses, and lab courses.
This position will be responsible for the design, implementation, and evaluation of simulation-based learning experiences for nursing students in collaboration with the Simulation Center Director. This role ensures that simulation activities align with curriculum goals, competency-based education principles, and accreditation standards while fostering a realistic and effective learning environment. The Simulation Educator collaborates with faculty to integrate simulation into nursing coursework and supports students in developing clinical reasoning, technical skills, and professional behaviors. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs or the ABSN Program Coordinator, with ultimate accountability to the Dean of the School of Nursing.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


  • Teach assigned simulations or courses, including theory, lab, and clinical as needed.
  • Evaluate simulation design and content annually for simulations assigned to teach.
  • Design, coordinate, and implement simulation-based experiences that align with the BSN curriculum, AACN Essentials, competency-based education principles, and healthcare simulation standards of best practice.
  • Collaborate with course faculty in implementation of simulation and clinical content of course.
  • Collaborate with course faculty in evaluation of students in simulation, lab, and clinical portions of assigned courses.
  • Communicate with students, staff, faculty and supervisors in a respectful and effective manner.
  • Supervise and instruct students in simulation and other settings as assigned.
  • Participate in the SON committees as assigned, attend meetings and collaborate on committee activities.
  • Attend PLU University faculty assembly meetings.
  • Advise students as assigned.
  • Participate in university service.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

      Required Qualifications:

      • MSN or Doctoral degree (PhD, DNP).
      • At least one graduate or doctoral degree must be in nursing.
      • Hold unencumbered or be eligible for RN license in WA.
      • 3 years clinical experience in related area.
      • 2 years of experience in nursing simulation.

        Preferred Qualifications:

        • Previous experience in education.
        • Experience in adult med-surg, obstetrics, or psychiatric nursing.
        • CHSE certification.

          Work Conditions:

          • Conditions vary by course and include a variety of clinical practice settings.

            Physical Requirements:

            • Able to meet essential qualification to participate in student clinical rotations in any setting.
            • Able to move and manipulate simulation mannequins and equipment.
